Jeff Stevens is the Director of Emergency Management and Communication Center at NYU. In this role, Jeff oversees the University’s emergency management and public safety dispatch functions. Since joining NYU, he has led efforts to improve the University’s alerting system, improve preparedness on both an individual and institutional level, deployed the Safe NYU app, and created the Emergency Management Advisory Council.
Prior to joining NYU, Jeff was the Vice President for Emergency Management Services at CDR Maguire, a full service emergency management consulting firm. Jeff traveled throughout the United States working with state and local communities to prepare for and recover from disasters including hurricanes, tornadoes, snowstorms, tsunamis, and hazardous materials incidents. Jeff also worked as a Regional Planner with the Rhode Island Emergency Management Agency and an Emergency Preparedness Program Coordinator with the Rhode Island Department of Health’s Center for Emergency Preparedness and Response.
Jeff is a Certified Emergency Manager from the International Association of Emergency Managers and a FEMA Master Exercise Practitioner. He has previously been a member of the State of Rhode Island’s Type III Incident Management Team as well as a former firefighter and emergency medical technician.
