Futurefill

A woman that I know personally recently launched a company called Futurefill.  Futurefill provides premium body and hair products to college students.  Here’s how it works: first a student orders the products online, then they receive their products in refillable packaging, which is delivered to their campus.  Finally, the student requests refills online, changes products (if they want to), and exchanges empty bottles for full ones during their next delivery.  The product brands include Cowshed, Rain, and Red Flower, which are all environmentally conscious brands.

I think this is a great idea because everyone runs out of body wash or shampoo/conditioner anyway so why not return your bottles and receive reused ones?  I was surprised when I first heard about Futurefill because I would never think to create something like it.  However, I think there should be more companies like Futurefill because our planet is in demand for more innovative ways to help the environment.

One of the main points from last week’s discussion that really stuck with me is that every individual needs to be willing to think/act creatively if they want to make an impact on the environment. The tools and answers that we need are not always going to be right in front of us so it’s important to think outside of the box.

I’ll post the link to Futurefill below if anyone is interested in checking it out!

I think I’m still trying to figure out what specific environmental issue I’m most passionate about. However, I know that I am interested in finding ways to help the environment with the items that we use daily (like Futurefill). It would be fun to be part of a team/committee where we brainstorm ways to involve everyone in making changes with the items that we use all the time.
